Singing Your Music

From a story instructed by Alan Cohen
in his e-book: Knowledge Of The Coronary heart,
Hay Home, 2002

When a lady in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a number of associates and collectively they pray and meditate till they hear the track of the child. They recognize that each soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique taste and purpose. When the women attune to the music, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else.

When the child is born, the neighborhood gathers and sings the kid's song to him or her. Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child's song. When the kid passes through the initiation to maturity, the individuals once more come collectively and sing. On the time of marriage, the person hears his or her song.

Finally, when the soul is about to move from this world, the family and buddies collect on the individual's bed, simply as they did at their delivery, and they sing the individual to the following life.

To the African tribe there may be one different event upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time throughout his or her life, the person commits a criminal offense or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the folks locally form a circle round them. Then they sing their tune to them.

The tribe acknowledges that the correction for delinquent behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity. Once you acknowledge your individual song, you have no want or have to do something that may hurt another.

A pal is somebody who knows your track and sings it to you when you've gotten forgotten it. Those that love you are not fooled by mistakes you will have made or dark pictures you maintain about yourself. They bear in mind your beauty if you really feel ugly; your wholeness if you find yourself damaged; your innocence once you really feel responsible; and your goal when you're confused.

Chances are you'll not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your track to you at essential life transitions, but life is all the time reminding you if you end up in tune with yourself and if you find yourself not. If you feel good, what you might be doing matches your music, and whenever you feel awful, it doesn't. In the end, we shall all recognize our track and sing it well.

You could really feel a little wobbly for the time being, but so have all the good singers. Simply maintain singing and you will find your means home.
