I was delighted to come back throughout this brief clip featuring Ari Sandel. As a movie director, Sandel received an Academy Award in 2005 in the class, Greatest Short Film - Stay Action.

His film, West Bank Story, is a Romeo and Juliet musical comedy that takes place among the many falafel stands of the West Bank. (By the best way, how can you not like a movie with the tagline: “A little singing, a little bit dancing, numerous hummus”?)

On this short clip, Sandel talks about the entire points that he wished to mention in his acceptance speech within the event that he gained, in addition to a few of the pressure that he was getting from sympathetic exterior sources. He only had 60 seconds to talk, and I believe that he did a masterful job.

Watch the clip under after which learn on. (NB - If you click on the video, you will note a message saying that embedding has been disabled. Simply click on the words “Watch on YouTube” and the video will play in a new window.)

Sandel’s speech impressed me for a number of reasons:

    * He came across as humble and sincere.
    * He used some gentle, applicable humour.
    * He informed the viewers what his film was about, why the subject is necessary and the way many people proceed to work for peace in the Center East.
    * Removed from being self-centred, Sandel was altruistic. He spoke on behalf of small film producers and crews who are usually not backed by big production companies and who work very hard at their craft, usually for little or no pay. He additionally recognized eight people by name.
    * He had good eye contact with the different sections of the viewers, including the individuals in the balconies.
    * He made gestures even if he additionally had to maintain the award.
    * He was not afraid to show his emotions.

All of this whereas coping with the shock/shock/pleasure at having received an Academy Award and all under the gaze of a billion individuals around the world.

An Oscar-profitable efficiency in its own right!
